Avion III Gd palais

On October 9, 1890, in the grounds of a castle near Paris, Clément Ader (49) rises above the ground aboard a motor and propeller machine.

Called Éole, this bat-shaped device allows the French inventor to make a jump of 50 meters … At a few tens of centimeters in height.

The performance seems modest, but it is the first time that a man has managed to fly aboard a machine heavier than air and not an aerostat (balloon).
